Building a College dream (1st yr)

My name is Estrella Del Sagrario, I am a High school senior at Riverside University High School. I was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. My family and I encountered circumstances that led us to have to move to The United States of America. We arrived with many dreams and hopes. We faced difficulties when we were unable to provide proper documentation to be able to work or receive certain expected benefits.

I am starting this page because I need money to go to college, because we failed to provide proper documentation I am unable to apply for the FASFA or apply for loans. I have applied to scholarships but I only qualify for about 20% of the ones I find, given that have a cumulative G.P.A of 3.4, participate in Student Council, am a member of NHS, Play Tennis, volunteer often, and I was a Sunday School teacher.

My brother was the first in my immediate family to graduate High School, and I am on the road to be the first to enter, and graduate college. My parents never had a chance to finish grade school, graduating high school was not an option, much less graduating from college. My mom currently works two different jobs, one is 8 hours a day 5 days a week, sometimes even on saturday, the other is 5 hours a day, including a number of hours on holidays.

My family sacrificed what was known to them, family, some type of income, some type of survival necessities, to give me and my three brothers a different life. My three brothers faced troubles with language, possibilities and personal problems and were not able to continue their studying, as much as they would have wanted to education was not an option. I am currently the only one who has the opportunity. The only thing in the way of me a college is money, my family makes just enough to keep us day by day, they have made sacrifices to begin a savings account but I still need more help. I am not asking for free money, I am asking for an investment. My mother taught me that everything I get, I must earn. I will make every smallest crumb count for something.

My dreams are to become a teacher, like some I know, who live to educate others and keep learning. I'm starting of at Cardinal Stritch University!!!!

Thank-you in advance, for your time, for your help, for making a dream come true, for my family and I,  just by reading my story. I would be happy to answer any questions.
