When Hurricane Harvey made landfall on August 25th, the Estrella family was hit hard. As heavy rains fell and water began to accumulate, they found themselves and their home in the direct path of catastrophe. Finally, on Monday, August 28th at noon, Tony and his family were forced to face the reality of the situation and evacuate their home, departing on foot in chest high water. At the end of their street they were evacuated by boat, each carrying a backpack containing personal items. Everything else was left behind.
Today, Tony and his family are staying with friends, with whom they have found shelter and comfort since their evacutation. Their home and vehicles remain flooded with water that isn’t expected to recede for days or even weeks. Only then will the Estrella family understand the extent of the damage and loss and begin to restore their family home.
Over the last week, both prior to and after evacuation, Anthony’s “Servant Heart” has been on constant display. He has been consistently engaged in monitoring and reporting his Acelity Service Teams’ safety. Facing the most distressing circumstances, yet surprising to none who know him, Anthony has demonstrated his investment in and concern for others while maintaining his irrepressible positive attitude and good spirits. He is simply grateful that he and his family are safe, as are we.
Please join me in the effort to assist Anthony and his family with the financial burden of rebuilding their home and lives in the days, weeks and months ahead. Help spread the word! Your thoughts, prayers and donations to this GoFundMe campaign are greatly appreciated!
