ESTRANGED QUEER SOUTH ASIAN IN NEED OF STABILITY

I am writing on behalf of someone who is choosing to remain anonymous due to their safety as a NB Queer Artist , and their life being threatened by family members.

 

This person has been trying to find an escape from an abusive family home — where there is unresolved mental illness , shame and disgust contaminating the house.

This person is under alias as they have any other choice but to start a Go Fund Me , seeking help from their community.

Due to their own triggers growing up with the sense of guilt from asking others for help, they’ve struggled to find another option and it has just come to this point.

So please take into account why they wish to remain anonymous, alongside for their safety.

I can assure you though, this is a person in the queer community, who brings light and carefree energy to those who are around them / known to them.

 

They were raised in a First Gen Muslim household, where they’ve had to dilute everything from their trans journey , to their sexuality , to their clothing etc. It’s become extremely detrimental to their mental health and physical health.

 

Ray has been couch surfing prior and after trying to initially flee the household they were told to come back to, due to their lease being given up by the landlords at their past address.

Whilst coming back, the actions from their siblings has spiralled to the point where they were harassed by their siblings and had their life threatened by family members. They had no other choice but to contact police when they were having their belongings chucked out of the house by family.

 

This then resulted in Officers detaining a family member for hauling slurs and physical objects at them.

Ray is solely trying to find a place where they can focus on their goals again when they’ve found refuge away from these threats and violence — continuing their freelance work and to be giving back to the Black and Brown Queer community.

A community they’ve found themselves in , compared to the place where they learned to hate themselves by actions of their family — aka their family ‘home’.

 

With colourist , transphobic and homophobic slurs being told to them like ‘Tr*nny’ ‘Bl*ck Fagg*t’ etc , it has caused immense emotional distress. This is not just and will not be accepted in 2021. Especially from FAMILY. 

 

Ray, and those supporting them, are asking for £3500:

the cut down will be towards:

* First month’s rent and a deposit

*Laptop that was damaged by family.

They have been working off their phone for a while, causing them to not have proper backup for work/edits and is desperate to try sort something out living wise and creation wise as they cannot take being left with no funds to do the one thing that keeps their mind levelled - CREATION.
