Esther and Gwen's Medical Fund

On Tuesday, August 22, the day before school was to start, Esther and Gwen suffered severe burns at the end of their camping trip in Wyoming.  After driving to the nearest hospital, both girls had to be airlifted to Swedish Medical Center, in South Denver, the only Level I trauma center in Colorado with a dedicated burn unit.

Both Esther and Gwen remained hospitalized for most of the week. Gwen was finally able to start school on September 1 and is doing well!  Esther was released from the hospital after about a week but has been back and forth from Fort Collins to Denver for multiple surgeries since then and won’t be returning to school for at least another couple of weeks.  She will also require quite a bit of physical therapy.  Jeannie is currently working with Esther’s school to determine the best way to keep up on school work while she is home.

They are all in great spirits and are dealing with this trauma phenomenally, however, the medical expenses, that won’t be fully covered by insurance, are going to be significant.  Any funds raised here will be used towards covering these bills.

Several people have been asking how they can best help.  A donation, of any amount, would be much appreciated by the family and will help ease some of the difficulty they are facing.
