Hi family and friends,

My name is Jennifer Badio and I am a sister in law to Esther Badio. My husband's sister Esther lived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, with her two children, Dave (age 16) and Lucie (age 8).

Esther had been sick with differing diagnoses and health challenges for the past 11 years. In 2013, Esther became paralyzed and could no longer walk. Over the past 6 months, Esther's health condition deteriorated further. We sought increased medical resources and treatments for Esther in Port-au-Prince to understand her health situation. Haiti's heightened political instability, gang violence, and increased insecurity has exacerbated all Haitians access to basic medical care, including Esther.

Esther's recent diagnosis was an infection in her spine. Esther passed away on January 15, 2024. She was 40 years of age. We are grappling with how to help her children understand what has happened to their mother.

Esther was a fierce mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife and a dear friend. Esther was a beautiful soul, cherished by her family and children. Her foremost priority was to provide for her children, serve others and honour God. Esther was our prayer warrior in Haiti, always faithful for God to bless and provide. She will be deeply missed. Even in Esther's absence, her radiant spirit shines from the heavens.

In light of this sudden loss, we humbly seek support for Esther's funeral in Haiti and to financially aid her children. A Celebration of Life is planned for Esther on January 25, 2025 at the church Maison de Refuge.
