Julia's eSight

Julia was born with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH). This means that her optic nerves are not fully developed and therefore cannot properly transmit information from her eyes to her brain. ONH is a congenital disorder that has no known causes and no cures.

Julia can see shapes and things up close, but she does not see anything in detail or with any clarity. From a young age, she has adapted to her lack of vision and become a successful freshman in high school. She is very smart and involved in many activities in school.

Several months ago, Julia had the opportunity to try out a new technology, eSight, that can help her see better. eSight is a pair of electronic glasses that are adjustable for distance that would allow Julia to participate more fully in life. When she tried them on, she was shocked to find that she could see faces and expressions, and words on a wall across the room!

The glasses can help her now in high school, when she gets to college, and throughout her life. She will more easily be able to participate in classes at school without having to carry around bulky technology. She can take notes, see her paper, see what’s going on at football games and basketball games, and see expressions on people’s faces. She can go to the movies and see the scenery when she travels. She can see the animals at the zoo and the art at the museum. In so many ways, these glasses will help Julia experience the things she hasn’t been able to experience.

Please help Julia get her eSight glasses. She is already on the path to success, but with the glasses and the sight they will offer her, Julia will reach the stars.
