On November 4th,2015 I dropped my mother off at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse,NY because she thought she had a concussion due to a fall she had at work about a month back. I went on about my day and went into work and a few hours later texted her to see how she was doing, "I have cancer. I dont know much about it yet other than its in my brain".  Never in my life did I think this would happen.  My mother became very sick very fast. She started her radiation the saturday after that, to shrink the tumors in her brain. She was put on steriods which caused her to only sleep a few hours a day. Soon after this she found out the cancer was also in her lungs. This is where it started, and then worked its way into her brain because it wasnt caught in time. Nearing the end of her radiation therapy we were told that the tumors in her brain had shrunk, finally some good news! Now the main concern was what was going on in her lungs. On friday, december 4th she met with her new oncologist, Dr. Seth (she loved him!) who told her the bad news. The news that was given to her on that day was that the cancer in her lungs and brain was very advanced. My sister, Alicia, and my mother came to see me at work that day and I asked how her appointment had gone, hoping for good news. Unfortunately, I got everything but that. My mom told me this would be her last christmas. My heart shattered into a million pieces. I didnt undestand why this was happening to our family, I questioned over and over again what we did to deserve losing her. The reason I am making this account is because my mother is without health insurance. All of the hospital stays, small procedures, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, medications to keep her going, and doctors appointments are all being taken care of out of pocket for the time being until she can get an insurance plan. We are doing everything we can to get her through this. Collecting bottles and cans, donations and this account are what we are going to use to pay her medical bills. 100% of the money in this account will be spent on her doctor bills and things that she needs to keep her fighting strong.  Every little bit helps. This woman means more than anything in the world to this family, and were not going down without a fight. Thank you in advance to everyone.
