Escuela Loma Partida - Children's Bathrooms

The students at Escuela Loma Partida need a proper bathroom! Currently we have no bathrooms at our school - When we moved to Loma Partida, Panama in March 2018 we knew we wanted to provide positive opportunity in our local community.
as a volunteer teacher at this school of 100 children, I've only known it to be an unkempt, non-functioning little room where the children do not go to "potty".
There is no septic, no toilet, no sink, nothing.
The locals generally use the ocean as their "potty." Usually they have no septic; it is common for the toilet to be simply a hole into the beautiful clear Carribbean water. We want to save the pristine beauty of this area and educate the children who live here about the importance of honoring nature. We don't expect them to adapt to these new changes right away... Do we want to use a toilet? Is it too much trouble to have to remember to flush and wipe? (hahaha) We will see!
Stu and I would like to change that. It won't take much.
Less than $5000 and a bit of time til we're up and "going potty."
We've got permits in place, volunteer workers and materials (like sand to make the concrete) at the ready. We had success with our first little project: a dock so the school kids didn't have to climb through muck in their clean uniforms to get to the school house. Now we hope to include you; we're really excited about the difference WE ALL can make.
I hope this resonates with you like it did with me and Stu. The smallest effort can make the biggest difference: toilets, a sink, a roof, walls and a door for privacy. So simple, yet so impactful.
