<div>Hello, we are Oscar, Darly, Zharick, and Jacobo—a Colombian family who migrated to the United States in June 2022.
</div>
<div>We love our country, but we had to leave because staying there was no longer safe for our family. We settled in Denver, Colorado in July 2022 and began building a new life in a place that was very different for us—but a place where we felt safe and full of hope.

<div>Denver has been amazing. My wife (Darly) and I started working as soon as we could, and my sister-in-law (Zharick) enrolled at DSST Green Valley Ranch High School. She was 15 at the time. Today, she’s nearly 19 and just graduated high school in May 2025. She was an outstanding student and earned a full scholarship to attend CSU Fort Collins, where she will study Biomedical Engineering with a dual degree in Mechanical Engineering, and will be part of CSU’s Honors Program. She is simply incredible.

<div>My wife and I have always worked extremely hard to pay our bills and give Zharick the stability we sometimes lacked. We’ve taken on all kinds of difficult jobs, but little by little we managed to stay afloat and move toward a more stable and normal life—above all, a life filled with peace and safety.

<div>We’ve had tough times—like in February 2023 when I had an accident and our only car was totaled. We lost our jobs, but with God’s help we were able to buy another vehicle, which became my main work tool and helped us improve our financial situation. That was a huge relief. Then in April 2024, the engine of that car exploded and we once again faced serious challenges, but with help from others, we got through it—and we finally started getting closer to the life we dreamed of.

<div>In February 2024, Jacobo was born—an absolute blessing and the heart of our family. Now we have two reasons to stay strong and keep going: Jacobo and Zharick.

<div>We’ve been attending Arise Church Denver since October 2022, thanks to my friend Jimmy Smith, who gave us the most beautiful gift: a connection with God. We found a loving community and family there. We began volunteering in January 2023 and were baptized in May of that year. Being part of Arise has been life-changing and has completely transformed how we face each day.

<div>Life has been good to us here. We had real plans for our future—for Zharick’s future, and now for Jacobo’s too. We hoped to move to Fort Collins and settle down permanently. We dreamed of buying our first home, watching Jacobo grow up there, and seeing Zharick become a successful Biomedical Engineer.

<div>Today, my wife is a preschool teacher, and I work as an Uber driver—jobs that gave us financial stability and helped us move closer to our goals and dreams.
</div>

<div>When we first arrived in the U.S., one of our first steps was hiring immigration attorneys. We wanted to do things the right way. We started an immigration process to build a life and future here. We have always been extremely careful to respect the laws and regulations of the country we now call home—a place that has given us so much.
</div>

</div>
<div>But… recent immigration policy changes came knocking on our door and completely turned our plans upside down. Today, we are facing an unclear future filled with anxiety and fear. Our immigration cases were dismissed without much explanation, and we are now facing the very real threat of deportation or being detained by ICE.
</div>

<div>We feel fear even doing simple things like grocery shopping. We fear being separated again. Now, our thoughts aren’t only about Zharick—but about Jacobo too. As a father, I can’t imagine a single day without knowing where my son is. I know my wife feels the same.
</div>

<div>Now, the doors to continue our lives in the U.S. are nearly closed. Our chances are slim, and only a miracle could change our path. We still have faith—but we also must be responsible for our family, for Zharick and Jacobo, who are the most important things in our lives.
</div>

<div>We’ve made the difficult decision to return to Colombia, even though that means giving up the peace and security we’ve found here. We trust God will go with us and protect us. We’ll reunite with our families and go back to our home country.
</div>

<div>It breaks our hearts that Zharick might lose out on the opportunities she worked so hard for—but we have faith she will achieve great things anywhere she goes, and that her future will be full of success and the presence of God.
</div>

<div>Leaving Colombia was not easy—it came with immense emotional and financial costs. We faced it bravely. And now, we are in the same situation once again. We are turning to the kindness and empathy of anyone who may want to help.
</div>

<div>Going back means starting from scratch again, and while we’re ready to take on that challenge, we know it will bring financial burdens we may not be able to handle alone. <div>Hola, somos Oscar, Darly, Zharick y Jacobo, somos una familia Colombiana que migro a los Estados Unidos en Junio del 2022. Amamos nuestro país, pero tuvimos que irnos ya que estar allí no era seguro para nuestra familia. Logramos establecernos en Denver, Colorado desde Julio del 2022 y planeamos iniciar una nueva vida en un lugar que era muy diferente para nosotros pero que nos hacia sentirnos seguros y con mucha esperanza. Denver ha sido increíble, mi esposa (Darly) y yo comenzamos a trabajar en cuanto pudimos, y mi cuñada (Zharick) ingreso a la escuela en DSST Green Valley Ranch, en ese momento ella tenia 15 años, hoy tiene un poco menos de 19 y ya logro graduarse de HS, su graduación fue en Mayo del 2025, fue una gran estudiante y logro obtener una beca completa para ir a CSU Fort Collins y estudiar allí Ingeniería Biomédica con doble titulación en Ingeniería Mecánica, formando parte del programa de honores de CSU, ella simplemente es increíble. Mi esposa y yo, nos esforzamos siempre por trabajar muy duro para que pudiéramos cubrir nuestras cuentas y brindarle a Zharick una estabilidad que a veces no teníamos, hicimos trabajos muy fuertes y de todo tipo, pero de poco en poco pudimos mantenernos a flote y caminar hacia una vida estable y normal, pero por encima de todo, sintiéndonos tranquilos y seguros. Hemos vivido momentos difíciles, como cuando en febrero del 2023 tuve un accidente y nuestro único vehículo fue perdida total, perdimos nuestros trabajos pero Dios nos ayudo y pudimos comprar un nuevo auto que se convirtió en mi herramienta de trabajo y mejoro un poco nuestra situación financiera, eso fue genial; después en abril del 2024 el motor de ese auto exploto y nuevamente tuvimos problemas pero logramos solucionarlo con ayuda de otras personas y por fin comenzamos a acercarnos a la vida que queríamos. En febrero de 2024 nació Jacobo, una bendición en nuestras vidas y nuestra familia, ahora son dos motivos para ser fuertes y seguir adelante, Jacobo y Zharick. Asistimos a Arise Church Denver desde octubre del 2022 gracias a mi amigo Jimmy Smith quien nos dio el regalo mas hermoso del mundo: Acercarnos a Dios, encontramos allí una gran comunidad y familia, comenzamos a ser voluntarios desde enero del 2023 y nos bautizamos en Mayo del mismo año. Estar en Arise ha sido simplemente genial, nos cambio la vida y la forma en que afrontábamos el día a día. Nuestra vida todo este tiempo ha sido muy buena, teníamos planes para nuestro futuro, para el futuro de Zharick e incluso para el futuro de Jacobo. Esperábamos poder mudarnos para Fort Collins y establecernos definitivamente alli, queríamos comprar nuestra primer casa y ver crecer a Jacobo alli, y que Zharick se convirtiera en una Ingeniera Biomedica exitosa. Mi esposa ahora es maestra en una escuela de primera infancia, y yo me he dedicado a ser conductor de Uber, lo que nos permitía tener una estabilidad económica y caminar hacia nuestras metas y sueños. Cuando llegamos a estados unidos, una de las primeras cosas que hicimos fue contratar los servicios de unos abogados de inmigración, queríamos hacer las cosas bien y comenzamos un proceso migratorio para poder alcanzar un estatus migratorio que nos permitiera hacer nuestra vida y nuestro futuro aquí, nos hemos cuidado mucho y hemos respetado las leyes y las normas del lugar al que hasta ahora llamábamos hogar y que nos ha dado tanto. Pero... las recientes políticas migratorias tocaron nuestra puerta, y cambiaron totalmente nuestros planes. Hoy, nuestras vidas no tienen un futuro claro, la angustia y el miedo se ha apoderado de nuestro día a día y todo se ha tornado muy difícil. Nuestros casos de migración fueron desestimados sin muchas explicaciones y ahora nos enfrentamos a una posible deportación o captura por parte del ICE. Sentimos miedo incluso cuando compramos la comida para nuestro hogar, sentimos miedo de ser separados nuevamente y ahora no solamente pensamos en Zharick, también pensamos en Jacobo, yo como padre no me imagino un solo día en el que no pueda saber de el, y se que mi esposa siente lo mismo. Hoy, las puertas para que podamos seguir nuestras vidas en Estados Unidos, están casi cerradas, las posibilidades son mínimas y solo un milagro podría cambiar todo, tenemos fe pero debemos ser responsables con nosotros mismos y con nuestra familia, con Zharick y con Jacobo que son lo mas importante para nosotros.

<div>Hemos decidido que regresaremos a Colombia a pesar de que eso implica olvidarnos de la seguridad y de la tranquilidad, sabemos que Dios estará con nosotros y nos cuidara. Volveremos con nuestras familias y a nuestro país. Lamento las oportunidades que se perderá Zharick, pero tengo FE de que ella lograra lo que se proponga en cualquier lugar y su futuro solo estará lleno de éxito y de la compañía de Dios.

<div>Cuando salimos de Colombia no fue fácil, teníamos que cambiar nuestra vida y eso tuvo un costo emocional y económico incalculable y lo afrontamos y asumimos. Hoy, que nos vemos exactamente en la misma situación, queremos acudir a la empatía y bondad de cualquier persona que quiera ayudarnos. Regresar significa empezar desde cero una vez mas y aunque sabemos que será difícil, estamos dispuestos a tomar el reto y estamos seguros de que lo lograremos como familia, pero eso implica un nuevo costo económico que creemos que nos va a desbordar, por eso, cualquier ayuda o donación que puedas hacer, será muy importante para nosotros y nos ayudara de cualquier manera. Esto no es fácil para nosotros, pero Dios nos hace fuertes y nos ha enseñado que la mejor manera de salir adelante es la comunidad.
