Hello our friends and family! We have created this GoFundMe account for our humanitarian trip to Uganda next year in April 2019. As you all are aware, the money that we fund raised from YOU GUYS last year for the Uganda Project 2017 helped us with not only creating sustainable projects around the Masaka area in Uganda but it helped us leave positive long-lasting impacts on those who really benefited from our support. Because of YOUR GUYS’ SUPPORT last year, we were able to run workshops, empower young women, help families start small businesses to help children attend school, provide books and other educational tools to students, etc..etc… Like last time, our trip to Uganda this time will still be based on the principles that were strictly enforced during our first trip: 1. Do no harm, 2. Go as learners and finally, 3. Sustainability. The money YOU DONATE will be used for the THREE MAIN PROJECTS that we are wanting to accomplish on our trip. These projects include the following:
PROJECT 1: Outreach/Support work with children and youth (ages 5-15). This project will aim to support street children with basic necessities and education. Your donation will go towards outreach work for street children; developmental tools; school supplies; providing schools/organizations/libraries with a book shelf; and
Special meals on International African Children’s Day on June 16, 2019.
PROJECT 2: : Empowering young women with history of sexual abuse and providing education on sexual health. This project will aim to educate young women in rural areas on sexual health/sexual abuse as these topics remain a taboo subject in Uganda and education around this topic is very limited. Our goal will be to provide education around sexual health, HIV prevention and treatment and empowerment for women that have faced sexual abuse or assault. Your donation will go towards travel costs to different communities; female hygiene/sanitary products; interpreters; and any other tools/supplies needed for activities around empowerment and education.
PROJECT 3: Supporting the elderly women in Masaka, Uganda. Elderly women also known as"Jajjas" play the role of a parent when the parents of their grandchildren are not in the picture. Because of their age group, jajjas require supports that will enable them start a business for their grandchildren so they can get a source of income for education (for their grandchildren) and other basic necessities. Your donation will go towards sewing machines; basket/ bracelet supplies; fabric for tailoring, and other supplies to start small business.
In addition, we will be updating our Facebook Page “Escape With Us 2019”and our Instagram page @escapewithus2019 regularly for you all beautiful people to follow our Uganda journey. For this trip to be as successful as we want it to be, we need your SUPPORT!!! Remember, it is because of YOU that we can make this work! No matter how small the donation is, IT ALL ADDS UP!!!!
