We are floored and so grateful for the support from everyone, the emails and phone calls are so appreciated and welcome. Sabrina and Sandra are transferring back to the westside today and hopefully their jobs at Safeway will be reinstated once the store has been reopened. It’s challenging because there is limited communication and internet is only available through star link. We continue to check the Maui Humane society website for their missing kitties. The Lahaina cats appear to be setting up colony’s and there are angels who come with food and water. It’s a process, please continue to share our story and reach out personally if you feel so inclined. Much Love to you all. ❤️❤️❤️
My family lost their homes in the Lahaina Fire on August 8, barely making out in time with the just shirt on their backs. They are always the first to help, but will never ask for help. My cousin Sabrina and her partner have lost their home and both work in the Lahaina area and are unsure when (or if) they will be able to return to work. My Uncle Derek has lost his home and is still trying to figure out ways to help the community, while he is displaced. We have been able to find immediate temporary shelter for them but will need to find a longer-term solution. They have lost absolutely everything and will need to rebuild their lives. My family has always prided themselves on living a minimalist life, so to see them lose absolutely everything, knowing they already live with only what is needed is devastating. These funds will be used to support my Ohana, but also anyone who needs help, any family or friends, or anyone that reaches out. The word Ohana means so much more than family, and the Hawaiian spirit lives strong in everyone that is coming together to help rebuild. Lahaina Strong has a name for that reason. We are beyond grateful for your support and outpouring of love. Your kōkua (assistance) is greatly appreciated.
All funds will be distributed to immediately directly help
- find temporary housing
- buy essential needs (socks, underwear, t-shirts, pants, shoes, toiletries)
- medical prescriptions and eye-glasses
- replacement of government documents
Any remaining funds will be used to help them rebuild their lives and find a new place to live, and replace essentials in their home from furniture, bed, bedding, and cookware.
Please spread the word and share this campaign with your community and network, the larger the impact, the more support we can offer not just my family, but the community as well.
