Hi,
I’m writing to you on behalf of our good friend Paul Finley with some exciting news and a request. The exciting news is that Paul has asked Sharon Grant’s father for permission to marry his daughter (which he happily agreed to). Paul is excited (and a bit scared) to move forward with this new chapter in his life and is delighted to be in love with the most generous hearted person he has ever met.
I will be direct with the request. As most of you know, to prepare for this new chapter, Paul is in a state of transition from teaching music to taking on work as a civil engineering draftsman. The past 2 years have been terribly low finance-wise and hence the job change. Performances are still steady but not financially supportive. Paul’s finances are in a state that he will be unable to afford to purchase an engagement ring for some time. He has found the ring and has determined that the cost will be approximately $1,500.00. If Paul is forced to wait until he can afford the ring after catching up on bills/debt it would take many more months to pull together the finances. With this in mind, I felt a strong desire to try and accelerate the timetable and see this boy wed!

“You are on this list because you have done something. For me and or Sharon and I. It was something you’ve said, exemplified or to aspire to. It may have been just walking with me, in my ups and downs on life’s journey of questions. It’s wonderful to look back on you all and the ways you loved, taught and stood by me. Your modeling and companionship are priceless gifts to more people than you realize.”
So here are the specifics:
Regardless of the amount provided, your prayers are more important. Please pray for blessings on Paul and Sharon not only in this specific endeavor but as they walk together towards their new life.
There are 20 addresses on the list (some are couples, some are single).
If each addressee on the list can provide $75.00 towards Sharon’s engagement ring, Paul will be able to move quickly towards a matrimonial state.
We recognize that this is not a trivial amount of money, and we want you to feel empowered to give only what you feel comfortable providing.
Paul’s goal is to ask Sharon before the end of the Year, so for that to happen, Paul will need to order the ring, by December 10th.
Seizing an opportunity in October Paul has already purchased a gemstone!
Finally, if you think of anyone else that would want to donate, let us know first and we will reach out to them. One thing to NOT to do: Please do NOT broadcast this request to facebook, twitter, etc as Paul would like to surprise Sharon.
