Ernie’s Medical /Expenses

Ernie is one of the hardest working individuals I know. I love this man dearly, and if you know him, you know why he is so lovable.  Not only is he hardworking, he is always willing to help others. Whether he’s working a double shift, sleep deprived, or broke, he’s the one that will move you into your new place, fix something around your house, help figure out a problem,  or buy you a beer on his last dollar to cheer you up. He walks in a room and lights it up with his great sense of humor. He makes people that don’t want to smile laugh out loud and forget their problems. He’s a true friend—-and if you are his friend, you are his friend for life. 
      The love of my life was in a bicycle accident recently which left him with serious injuries to his leg. Rather than crash into a car that stopped short abruptly in front of him, he swerved out of the way to avoid crashing into the vehicle and ended up on the train tracks. Thankfully, there were some wonderful friends around that saw the accident and were able to lift Ernie off the train tracks. Thank you for helping him.. Things could have been worse, much worse. We are grateful and lucky to have him here with us today. But the injuries he sustained are serious ones: a broken leg with two fractures, some nerve damage, detached ligament and torn ACL that will take months to repair.  This is so upsetting for him as you can imagine, he was only trying to get healthier and active. The accident occurred on his first day riding back and forth to work, as advised by his doctor in order to get in shape .He was so proud that he rode over 26 miles that day.
         
       We have been to a few doctors now and the most recent Sports Injury Surgeon said Ernie will definitely need to have surgery for the fractures, etc.  He will also need a specific surgery for the nerve damage. Our insurance does not cover all his medical expense and the medical bills are already racking up. Ernie has several more upcoming doctor visits and will need  to have one of the surgeries later this month (September).  He will  be off from work  unpaid  for at least 3 to 5 months , maybe more depending on recovery.
