Smithsonian Internship & Research

Donation protected
Help me fund my internship at the Smithsonian! Donations will be applied toward both research and living expenses.

I am an undergraduate studying anthropology at Yale University who will spend for the summer of 2014 working as a full-time, unpaid intern at the Smithsonian Institution. The ten-week internship program in Washington, D.C. will involve two primary components, an academic research project and the development of educational exhibit materials for the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center.

The internship will allow me to engage in a rigorous examination of Filipino American conceptions of mental health issues, gain professional experience among the field's foremost scholars, and contribute to the Young Historians, Living Histories Exhibition, which encourages Asian Pacific American adolescents to contextualize their own identity.

The Smithsonian Institution cannot offer funding to undergraduates. Thus, the completion of this project remains contingent upon receiving external financial backing. All funds will be used to cover living expenses for the internship's duration. With the appropriate support, I hope to capitalize on this opportunity to explore the intersection of my scholarly ambitions, as an aspiring anthropologist, and my personal interest in Filipino American Studies. I appreciate any and all contributions!
