Erin Shores

Let me start by saying that Erin Shores is the strongest person I know.

About 7 years ago she and her mother were both diagnosed with breast cancer.  Together, they underwent mastectomies and chemo along with several other medical treatments to fight the cancer.  By the grace of God, they both beat the cancer and have since been in remission.

About 2 years ago, Erin’s mother was diagnosed with Leukemia.  She had a successful bone marrow transplant in the summer of 2017 and has since been in remission.

This past Saturday March 24, 2018, both Erin and her mom had to be rushed to the emergency room.  Erin’s mother was diagnosed with GvHD – Graft-versus-host disease which is common among those who undergone bone marrow transplants.  She is currently in ICU being treated and monitored.

Erin’s trip to the emergency room revealed an 8.5cm cyst on one of her ovaries.  Doctors are confident that the cyst is cancerous however, they are still unsure how aggressive and what type of cancer.  Although her next appointment isn’t until April 12th, it is confirmed that Erin will need a full hysterectomy and may have to go through chemo treatments again.

To add to why I believe Erin is such a strong person, you should also know that her father has Parkinson’s disease and is in an assisted living home and her brother has Down syndrome. Her entire family lives in Corpus Christi while she resides in New Braunfels.  Any one of these health issues and life strains on their own could cause a person to be overwhelmed and stressed but Erin deals with all of this and somehow manages to keep a smile on her face every day.  She is a faithful servant of God and is always willing to help others.  She never asks for help and never complains.

With this unknown and scary road ahead of her, I would like to lessen her stress levels as much as possible so that she can focus on being healthy and beating cancer for a second time. I am asking for help in raising money to cover Erin’s bills while she is out of work on unpaid leave recovering from surgery and possibly having chemo treatments.   I also ask that you keep Erin and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
