Erin Miller WILL Beat Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Do you see that tattoo on Erin’s left arm? That’s an image of the original Wonder Woman, whose powers were said to be “superhuman strength, speed, durability, reflexes, longevity, and accelerated  healing.”   These are all strengths that Erin Miller will be calling on this year as she faces some serious health challenges.

Erin was diagnosed with breast
cancer in November after a routine mammogram at age 40. The news unfortunately got worse after a few months of ongoing tests, ultimately showing that she has the BRCA1 gene mutation. In a nutshell, this means that she faces a significantly greater risk of breast and ovarian cancers than the general population. Additionally, the cancer was shown to have affected one lymph node, which was removed when she underwent her first of several surgeries, a partial mastectomy, in late January.

Erin faces a long year of treatments and procedures to ensure that the big C takes a permanent hike. This week, she begins chemotherapy,  which will last for five months. In the fall, she will undergo a double mastectomy and reconstruction. And after all of that, she will have an oophorectomy to remove her ovaries and Fallopian tubes as a preventative measure.

As you can imagine, this much medical care will come at a cost. Florida unfortunately does not require any paid medical leave, which means that Erin and her family will be affected financially by the time off of work that she will need to recover during each phase of her treatment. She currently works as a PE Coach and her school community has shown tremendous support. Erin has been an Elementary school teacher for over 17 years, always putting her students and families first.

Now is the time for all of us to rise up and put Erin first, by enabling her to comfortably take the time off that she will need to recover and focus on her health.

Contributions towards this this campaign will be used to cover medical expenses such as copays, medications and hospital bills. Additionally, these funds will support Erin’s family with meals, childcare, bills and other financial needs as her treatment continues. And because Erin has the BIGGEST heart, she’s already said that if any amount ends up not being needed for her own recovery,  she wants to pass it along to other teachers facing cancer ❤️

Erin has been my closest girlfriend since high school, and she’s got the same creativity, loyalty, crazy hard work ethic, youthful spirit and contagious laugh that she had when I first met her. Your support of this campaign means the world to me, because Erin means the world to so many of us. She is a mother to two incredible children, two year old Winnie and 13 year old Aidan. She’s newlywed of just over a year to her adoring husband Griffin. She is so fortunate to have her loving parents and many other relatives close by during this challenging time.

We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. Erin feels so grateful for this community of friends and family who are helping to hold her up so she can fight this cancer head on. Please feel free to share and help spread this campaign far and wide!
