<div>On March 7, 2023, our dear David Dilley was unexpectedly diagnosed with an extremely aggressive Stage 4 Brain Tumor<em>, Glioblastoma</em>.

<div>Up until the beginning of March, Dave was a fit and healthy man, and devoted husband to his wife, Erin and father to his two children, Colin (age 11) and Cameron (age 8). Dave’s wife noticed bizarre behavior on March 6 and immediately took him to the emergency room. After advocating for further assessment, Dave was given a brain scan, and immediately taken into emergency surgery to remove and drain a cyst that was causing extreme pressure and alleviate brain swelling. Surgeons discovered a tumor and were able to remove some, but not all of the tumor at that time. Following surgery, Dave was diagnosed with a severely aggressive brain tumor, Glioblastoma. <div>Dave fought for life and the family was elated when intubation removal exhibited that he could breathe on his own, and immediately was able to speak and engage with others with glimpses of “Dave-isms” along the way. Confusion is still present, and he does not understand why this is happening or where he is. Parts of his personality have certainly stayed in tack including his sense of humor, expressions of wanting to help others (even in his current state), love for his family and friends, and a fixation on getting back to cycling with “a team” comprised of all his loved ones!

<div>Following surgery, Dave did awake with disabilities including blindness in his left eye and memory loss. He continued his fight but then experienced more brain swelling which resulted in a second emergency surgery (<em>craniotomy</em>), where they removed a portion of his right skull. The surgeons are hopeful that Dave will recover in the next couple of weeks so that they can perform a third surgery to attempt to remove more of the tumor that was left behind after the first surgery. Friends and family continue the fight with Dave but are also aware that this condition is fatal. <strong>A timeline of what is to happen next to ensure Dave’s quality of life while prolonging every cherished moment is unknown.</strong>

<div>For those of you that know the Dilley family, you are aware that trauma and the battle for life is far too familiar as they continue to walk alongside their eldest son, Colin who was diagnosed as a toddler with <em>Pleuropulmonary Blastoma,</em> a rare form of lung cancer with a dicer-1 genetic mutation component. Thankfully, his cancer has been in remission for years but requires continued monitoring for the duration of his life. You have also experienced the love and devotion Dave has to his family, especially his commitment to being the best dad and a devoted husband to his amazing wife.
