I am a musician and an artist who loves my community. I love my neighborhood so much I would do anything to help my neighbors and the children where I live. I taught Physical and Earth science at a middle school in my neighborhood for the school year. When that assignment ended, I was unemployed for the summer but worked with a church program's children for the summer. They offered to help me while I helped them. That was so fulfilling but I still struggled finacially. I sought work but couldn't find it, but I wanted to make the best use of my time.
With the help of my friends, we facilitated a end-of-summer free week-long art camp and art show where the students got a chance to sell the work they created. Michael Brown was killed the day after our event. This made it obvious to me that we could help the children in our neighborhood, but I need to stay in my neighboorhood to do it. During this time, I have had difficulty keeping up with my mortgage.
I was blessed to find a job which I began in October but I had fallen so far behind. Now I need to come up with 3,600 to stay in my home and in my community. I have saved up 1,500 but the bank will not negotiate with me unless I have the full amount.
Honestly, I want to keep helping the youth in my community but I need to be here to do it. Hopefully with the help of friends, family and people who care, I will be able to not only save my home but save a kid through the arts. All help is greatly appreciated and thank you for your support.
