Erik Baelum and Family
Donation protected
On May 18, 2017, our dear friend Karen Baelum's husband, Erik, was diagnosed with brain cancer - Glioblastoma. He has fought a brave fight over the last 11 months with Karen and two teenage daughters, Nicole and Erika at his side.
Erik had a MRI a few weeks ago and not only are his tumors growing, there is a new one on the opposite side of his brain. There are no other treatments available and no clinical trials he qualifies for. Treatment has come to an end and hospice has been brought in.
Our hearts break for Erik, Karen, Nicole, Erika and all his family.
Hospice provides occasional nurse drop in visits but doesn't help with the day-to-day needs of bathing, tolieting, etc. The Baleums need certified nurse assistants (CNAs) to come to their home to assist with these and other needs. CNA's are not covered by their insurance.
There are probably many other things that are not covered by insurance that the Baelum family could use our financial support with now.
Nicole will be starting College in the fall and Erika plans to attend College in a few years when she graduates high school. Funds raised in excess of medical expenses will be put into a scholarship fund to go towards the girls College expenses.
We all continue to pray and ask how we can help. Donating to cover medical and College expenses and other things they need right now is one way to let them know we are here.
