This gofundme is to help support the Stofan family with financial costs as they deal with the unexpected passing of their husand/father, Eric Stofan Sr.

Thank you for anything you can contribute while they figure out how to move forward.

From Eric's daughter, Mollie (Stofan) Himes:

“Daddy’ll fix it”

That was the phrase that we all said, at least once a day. No matter what it was, Daddy would fix it or would offer advice on how to do it. He might get to it that day, or it might take a few weeks or months or years, but he would fix it, and always better than it was before.

He would go to work all day and come home and work on everything that needed fixed when he got home. Sometimes it was stuff we broke, sometimes it was stuff he was building. He liked to take his time and make sure it was done perfectly, frequently stopping to take breaks to take a step back & stare at it, carefully planning out what he was going to do next.

Which is why we are all still in shock and disbelief that he had to leave us so suddenly and so soon. The man who would plan everything from how many miles he got out of that last tank of gas he bought to exactly how many 2x4s he would need to finish building the camp.

Tuesday, August 21st, 2018 was Kristen’s first day of school in 8th grade. My dad took her to the bus stop like he has always has. He had some time before heading to work so he stopped to grab breakfast.

He wasn’t feeling right but headed into work. He stayed at work for a few hours, only to leave early and head home. He said he had back pain, and suggested to my mom that he should go to the doctors. My mom did, he had an EKG done and they told him he should go to the hospital.

He walked into the hospital under his own power, saying it felt best to stand.

They checked him out and the told him that he was having a heart attack. He was taken back for surgery and my mom and him exchanged “I love yous”.

Within an hour or so of him arriving, despite doctors and nurses trying desperately to save him, he passed away at the age of 55.

He is survived by my mother, Mary Catherine Lesniak Stofan and his 5 children: Mollie (married to Chris Himes), Eric (married to Amanda Jones), Catherine, Alexander, and Kristen. His mother Verna as well as his brother Gary and sister Lori.

My dad was the sole provider for the family, with my mother being handicapped from an accident a few years ago. My youngest sister is also only 13 years old.

We are all completely shocked, devastated, broken and speechless.

Just waiting and hoping that this is a dream and that he will come home, and fix everything.
