Eric Skramstad’s Double Lung Transplant Fundraiser

Eric’s Lung Transplant Story: the short version.
As a result of a long battle with pneumonia, Eric’s lungs were severely damaged, and several autoimmune diseases woke up to cause more complications and symptoms.
“My lung disease with medications was kept fairly stable for 5 years, however, this year my Pulmonary Fibrosis starting progressing. Tests also showed that I have developed Pulmonary Artery Hypertension (PAH) PAH along with my Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) is not a good combination.“
In late 2023, the disease had progressed (as described by Eric above), resulting in a few more complications, and the decision was made that he should enter the lung transplant process while he is still healthy enough to have a smoother recovery. In January 2024, Eric went through all the testing and was approved to be placed on the lung transplant list for a double lung transplant. On March 19, 2024, Eric was placed on the list.
Any funds raised will go to cover out of pocket costs occurred during the surgery and recovery. Eric retired, partly due to his health, and Sandi will be unable to work once Eric has his surgery as she will be his primary caregiver for at least the first year. Costs will include the apartment in the cities near the hospital they will need to stay at for an estimated 1-3 months, a specialized bed, medications and additional care, and transportation to the cities over the next year for appointments.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for donating, sharing, or any well wishes! All is greatly appreciated!
I’ll leave you with this message my Dad sent out earlier this year.
“If you offer prayers, please only pray for my health and not that I get a pair of lungs, as someone must die for me to get a good pair of lungs, and I do not want prayers that require that persons sacrifice.
I also ask that all those who can, register as an organ donor.. You never know whose life you may save.
Thank you.”
