Eric Dobbs Memorial Fund

On Tuesday, June 23rd we learned that Eric Dobbs, a fixture of the Richmond Theatre community, passed away at home. This is a sudden and enormous loss for the Dobbs family and for our community. The family is asking for help to cover immediate expenses.
Throughout his time on this Earth, Eric was a dedicated father to his “Supreme Being” Marilee, a fountain of knowledge, and a photographer who not only was the “go-to” for headshots but also a historian and documentarian of the recent history of the Richmond Theatre. Eric was an icon in the theatre community and his presence in the theatre was felt. Even if he was not photographing the proceedings, you knew he was in the audience by his infectious laughter. The world is an emptier place without that laugh.
While Eric loved and supported theatre, he also understood that most artists and theatre organizations did not have a lot of money. His way of giving back to the community he loved was through donating his services or charging a small fee. Because of this spirit of giving, there are not enough funds to cover the costs to give him the sendoff he so deserves.
The money raised will go to Eric's daughter (Marilee Billingsley (Dobbs)) to help with expenses so that proper time can be dedicated to the preservation of his life’s work for all of us to continue to enjoy for years to come. Any remaining funds will be donated back to the theatrical community. Plans are in the work so we can give him a proper send-off and celebration of life.
