A note from Eric's Step Sister:


Around 21.5 million Americans battled with substance disorder, and of those, 7 million battled a drug use disorder. Sadly only 1.3 million received treatment for these problems. Last year, 64,000 people died from a drug overdose. Aren't these numbers scary?!? I'm sure we all know a family member or a friend who is letting drugs or even alcohol take over their lives. As much as we love them and want the best for them all we can do is be there for them, love them and try to help them as much as we can to get their lives back on track.

My Step Brother Eric Allen Russell died this morning fighting his addiction to drugs. His overdose is just so hard to believe. You pray for them and you tell them that they have to get their lives back on track. You even send them to rehab to give them a fresh start, but sadly sometimes all of that just doesn't "click" in their head. My brother and I weren't close, especially since we have gotten older, but I am so saddened by this sudden death of someone who was way too young to lose his life to drugs. For those of you who don't know, my brother was so smart-had a good heart and he could have done so much with his life Unfortunately he got in with the wrong crowd and made the wrong choices and those choices have now changed his and our lives forever. Please pray for our family as we heal these wounded hearts we now have. Most importantly pray for his father Steve Russell, a man who would have given his life for the son he loves so unconditionally. If you know someone who is dealing with substance or alcohol abuse please don't give up on them...it could change their life.
