Last May a new Play Area committee was formed to raise money to install a new Play Area in our village of Anthorn. This new committee falls under the umbrella of Anthorn Association Committee who is a registered charity. The old Play area was old and did not meet current regulations the children only had one swing, a slide and a rocker to play on in the Play area. With lots of fundraising, donation and grants we managed to raise £31K. Which was absolutely amazing and we are beyond thankful to all those who helped us. We are now proud to say that installation of the new Play Area is complete and looks amazing. We have a 3 bay swing unit which has a basket swing, 2 junior swings and 2 cradle swings. We have a mini pirate ship for the younger ones and a set of triple somersault bars and kept our old rocker.
All sourced and installed by Playdale. As all money raised was used to purchase the new equipment we are having to start again to raise money for a new secure fence around the play area. We need £9,600 to build a fence that meets modern standards and will keep the children safe!
At the moment the fence has been up for twenty years and as it is made from wood and wire mesh it is now in disrepair and rotten. So any donations towards this amazing cause would be gratefully received. Let's get this village project over the finish line and know that the children can play in the new play area safely.
MAYBE YOU PLAYED ON THIS PARK WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD? IN THE 1970'S OR THE 1980'S? Maybe you now want to help another generation of children enjoy this fantastic community park. Please share this page with any old friends who might also like to contribute. Leave us a message and tell us about your times on the park!
In addition if you would like to come and see our new play park it will be opening on Monday 26th May at 1pm. Bring a picnic and let the children enjoy the new play area.
