My cancer journey

Hello, my name is Sharon Lafford. I am a 57 years old resident of Eskasoni First Nation. I'm a devoted loving wife and mother of four beautiful daughters, a son, and six joyful grandchildren. This is my story.

On November 19, 2013. I was diagnosed with rectum cancer, and for the last five years I have faced 34 radiation treatments, two surgeries and now forced to stay on chemo therapy for the rest of my life.

Just recently my family and I were devastated with horrible news. The cancer had spread it's way throughout my entire body, located even in my smallest veins. Because of this I was forced to quit work and given very little time to even live. Losing my job has caused an emotional and financial strain on me and my family. 

With only a small sum of welfare as my only income and travel expenses to the hospital every other day I could no longer keep up with my bill's, buy the proper healthy food that I need and support my family. I fear to leave  my family stuck, alone and devastated. So we like to ask the public for support to help ease this daily battle we're fighting.
