We really need to overhaul our kit. We need new battery operated tools to trim and hedge, as well as a range of hand tools for weeding. We have hundreds of volunteers and really need to equip them with the right tool for the jobs at hand, so they can continue to work (voluntarily) for the best outcomes of their neighbours in need. To give you an idea of tool costs, a battery powered hedger with charging unit is almost $1K, but every little bit helps.
Funding for these services is provided primarily by grants from the Commonwealth and NSW governments under the HACC program. Additional funding is obtained from client fees, grants from local councils and other community organisations and donations from individuals, companies and community organisations. But these only go so far, so we are asking for your help.
Easy Care Gardening Inc. (ECG) provides gardening services to clients over the age of 65 and clients in the Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai, Ryde and Hunters Hill local government areas of Sydney. These services are carried out by volunteers with the support of a small number of paid staff. The main purpose of providing these services is to enable clients to continue to live in their own home for as long as possible.
