Update on Paisley-
10/31/23
Paisley’s official diagnosis is Osteomyelitis of cervical vertebrae. Her Karius Pathogen test came back negative, which means doctors are unable to confirm what bacteria caused the bone infection. Her symptoms have improved significantly and doctors feel comfortable to switch her from in hospital care to home health care, meaning we will continue her treatment at home. The good news is Paisley is able to be discharged from the hospital in Little Rock, and we can bring her home. But our journey is far from over just yet. Paisley will require a home health aide for weekly labs, dressing changes, etc. All her medications will be shipped to us and we will administer them with the help of the aide. Paisley is on state healthcare (Medicaid) and insurance is our primary challenge right now financially. We sincerely thank you all for your continued support and prayers, we couldn’t have made it even this far without y’all. If we could ask everyone to continue to share our link, we would greatly appreciate it.
Update on Paisley:
We are still waiting on results from the Karius pathogen test, which we are hoping will help identify the bacteria and assign the correct antibiotics for it. We spoke with the infectious disease doctors and neuro/spine team about next steps and they want to treat conservatively and give her a minimum of 6 weeks on IV antibiotics, followed up with an additional MRI to see what the abscess looks like and if it’s still there. There is a possibility of a bone infection but we really don’t know until we get the lab test results back, then doctors will have more information to piece together the details. We are setting a higher donation goal now that our time in Little Rock has been extended 6 weeks or more and with continued medical care that insurance is not covering. We thank you for your continued support & prayers as we navigate through this challenging and very difficult time.
Hi y’all. On 10/7/23 our Paisley Grace was transported via helicopter to Arkansas children’s hospital in Little Rock. Currently all we know is she has a fluid build up in a very dangerous and scary spot in her neck vertebrae. We are in a waiting game for now, and she will have to stay for awhile in the PICU until we know more and doctors decide how they want to proceed.
Arkansas Children’s hospital does not have any options for siblings, they only allow parents to stay. We live in Gravette, Arkansas which is 3 hours outside Little Rock, and our only option at this point is to commute back and forth because of Charlotte (our toddler.)
We hate to have to do this, but we are literally stuck and do not have any other options. Any donation will help us cover expenses of her hospital stay and future treatment, because we do not know how much insurance will actually cover from all this. Please help and share if you can, thank you
