Help the Martin Family Fight Cancer!
Matt Martin, a husband and father of 3 kids (Avery 9, Noah 6 and Patrick 4) is once again fighting for his life against Cancer. In 2015 at the age of 36, Matt was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer called Burkitt’s Lymphoma (a form of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that is the most aggressive malignant tumor found in the human body), After 9 months of the most rigorous chemotherapy regimen out there, he gained full remission. Sadly, due to the aggressive nature of the chemo, his bone marrow has been severely damaged and he is now fighting another cancer called MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome), otherwise known as a form of Leukemia.
Matt’s only option is a full bone marrow transplant, which will require him to go through chemotherapy once again that will destroy his bone marrow entirely. A bone marrow donor (who is yet to be determined) will donate his/her healthy bone marrow cells that will then be infused into his body. Matt will be inpatient at Johns Hopkins for months while his body recovers, and he gains back strength and immunization. Matt is looking at a potentially long inpatient hospital stay with the inability to work due to the nature of this type of procedure. Matt’s wife Julia and their children will continue to reside in Mechanicsburg, PA, commuting back and forth to visit Matt when they can.
