American Girl Restoration Effort

Donation protected
This campaign is to raise funds for the restoration of the original American Girl statue that graced Eldridge Park in Elmira, NY from 1876 until it was damaged by vandals in 1980, plus the acquisition of a permanent display enclosure to protect this historic gem from any potential future dangers. American Girl was a renowned racing mare that perished during a meet at the Eldridge Driving Park in October, 1875, and this statue was commissioned and erected the following year by the Elmira Driving Association in her honor and memory. This statue is the only known remaining item from the original Eldridge Park which was developed for the community by philanthropist Dr. Edwin Eldridge in the 1860’s.

Eldridge Park Carousel Preservation Society is excited for this opportunity to bring back a piece of history that could have easily been lost forever.

We look forward to seeing you at the Park.
