Theo was diagnosed on sept 25th 2018 at Manchester royal children's hospital with A.L.L ( acute lymphoblastic leukaemia) he was just 3 years old he under went endless amounts of chemo an spending nearly 10 months in an out of hospital. In july 2019 he went on a small dose chemo an started maintenance as it was showing the cancer was in remission.
sadly in June 9th 2020 Theo started with bad headaches an bein sick so was sent back in for more tests, to be told the cancer was back he had relapsed. Not only had he relapsed but the cancer was now in his spinal fluid an brain. We immediately had a second Hickman line put back in an we start aggressive chemo that very day an has more or less lived in hospital since.
We have managed to get him MRD negative showing cancer at a all time low again but it will grow back an he cant live on chemo so we have to go for a bone marrow transplant to give him a chance of a life without chemo. Theo has a 10/10 match from a lady in Holland an is due to have transplant where he will stay in a transplant room for a minimum of 6weeks the end of Oct/Nov meaning he will miss a normal Christmas at home , but worth it when he gets a gift of life and a chance of a life free of cancer.
During all of this time in hospital Theo’s parents come up with a design of PJs to make things a little easier for all children and young people who need treatment or feeding through a Hickman line or feeding peg.
inside the pocket the nurses can get to there line easier stop the embarrassment of pulling the top up for the older kids, can see the point of line entry for infection an there is a pocket on the inside to stop lines from dangling or rubbing an can be kept clean an safe. Each set cost around 20/35 depending how much alterations are needed an size .
This is why Im going sober for October and any amount big or small will really help towards getting as many children as possible these PJs
