Growing Greener Generations in Waukesha County

The Waukesha County Green Team  is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, a grassroots organization empowering Waukesha County residents to take care of the environment in which we live and raise our families—the quality of our water, our food, the air we breathe, and the phenomenal natural resources. We believe that Waukesha County, Wisconsin will continue to be a great place to live for years into the future if we become fully sustainable. This means creating and maintaining conditions in which people and nature can exist in productive harmony to support present and future generations.

Your donation will help expand our reach as we provide educational resources, especially hands-on experiential learning in classrooms, bring awareness of ecologically responsible alternatives, and forge new habits that are becoming mainstream.

Plant Seeds of Sustainability
Reaching our goal of $2,500 will fund 100 hours of environmental education and activities through the following three programs:
• Expanding elementary education programming
• One Simple Act Cards and Displays
• Countywide Cleanup

Expanding Elementary Education Programming
Young people are our future. Establishing respect for the environment in our children is a proven way to bring change into families and the wider community across Waukesha County!

Your donation will help us bring these programs into more classrooms:
•  Trash Talking, a recycling/waste program teaches children about Zero Waste practices and the plight of the animals who inhabit our plastic filled planet.
Renewable Energy, a fun and interactive program highlighting renewable energy options, specifically solar and wind.
Sprouting Together, a classroom curriculum for elementary age children promoting healthy food, organic gardening, and communal food sharing. Sprouting Together, INC is a non-profit business with a curriculum designed by two Wisconsin-certified educators with over 50 years of public school teaching experience between them.

Changing Community Habits Programs
Waukesha County Green Team One Simple Act cards and Community Outreach Displays, designed and printed with help from your donations, are designed to break down complex issues into understandable bites that are easy to enact.  Topics include water, food, lawncare, energy, and waste.

One Simple Act cards offer specific Eco-Actions individuals can take to minimize their environmental footprint and make a huge collective impact.
Community Outreach Displays are available to scout troops, businesses, faith gatherings, libraries, and more to check out.

The Countywide Cleanup is an annual event  bringing together Waukesha County residents to clean up litter and debris from our parks, trails, roadways, rivers, forests and green spaces. Your donation helps maintain a healthy natural environment for our feathered, furry, and scaly friends, and for all Waukesha County residents to live and thrive!

There's more to come! After reaching our goal of $2,500, we have additional goals for new and forthcoming initiatives, including zero waste education and micro-grants to fund environmental projects at schools.
