Entrepreneurial Training in Nigeria

Donation protected
On any given week, outside of a mission house in a West Nigerian village, you can see a gathering of women and children.

They are there because they are hungry.

Yes, hungry to know God, but also in desperate need of food.

In this area it is uncommon for people to eat "until they are full". There is no such thing as "left overs".  Many women and children suffer from illnesses related to poverty and lack of food.

The local Pastor has seen women digging through the garbage for something to eat. Often times, they resort to picking discarded food from off the ground, left overs from the marketplace day.  The local Pastors have ran a food distribution for the past 6 years and although they are making a difference, God has placed a desire in their hearts to do more.

While giving food and resources is good, they believe "teaching a person how to fish" is even better.

During those six years, after much planning, fundraising and construction, a new training center has been built in the village and is ready to open.

What is missing now are the tools to launch several practical training programs, which are high demand trades in their area. These programs will teach the women (widowed and young single mothers) and their children (including orphans) how to produce an income. The results are the ability to feed themselves and live healthy,  productive lives. It also empowers them to go and teach others in their own village, as well those in surrounding communities.

Some of the trainings being offered are: dress maker/seamstress, tamale making including grinding and packing of masa (the dough used for tamales) soap making and hairdressing.  The facility is built, instructors are in place and the students are anxiously waiting.

This is the first training opportunity of its kind in the village.

The goal is to start career training in Spring 2017, with the first income producing graduates by Summer 2017. Their plan is to begin with 30-50 students, which will impact the future for hundreds of lives, including their children.

Donations of any amount will go directly to this project.

Below is the basic supply list for items needed to open the training center:

Generator: $3500
Hair dryers (hood): $300 x 5,=$1500
Milling machine: $6000
Industrial type sewing machines : $500 x 5= $2500

Total need: $13,500
