Entire family hit head on by a drunk driver

On July 5, 2019 Miguel Florencio was driving with his wife, two kids and father and mother in law in the same vehicle around 11:50 pm. Waiting On 8th Street to make a left into Hoover, they were suddenly hit head on by a 24 year old drunk driver. 
While the kids and mother in law only suffered from a few bruises from the seat belt, the others onboard were not as lucky. His father in law, who was in the passagers seat had his right hand broken and knee hematoma. His wife Ana was injured with bruises and four fractured ribs. Last but not least, Miguel Florencio, the driver had the worst luck of all. Here's a timeline of his ongoing injuries:

*08-06-19 emergency back surgery for infection put his heart rate was unstable to perform surgery return to ICU

*08-07-19 stable enough to have back surgery for infection

*08-12-19 embolism

*08-15-19 code blue 3am, transported to Saint Johns at 12pm had ecmo surgery

*08-19-19 surgery to remove ecmo machine

*08-20-19 back to White Memorial Hospital


He and his family were left with a totaled car and a bunch of hospital bills. Miguel is in critical condition, fighting for his life and trying to keep strong for his family including two boys of age 8 and 13. Miguel's words, "I just want to go home. I want to walk again and breathe fresh air." He is unable to move his legs do to multiple surgeries to his back, hip and a recent stroke. As he continues to fight for his life, it is also a worry that his family is left without a car and income to pay for their living expenses.
