Ensure Theatre Southwest's Future in Houston

For 67 years, Theatre Southwest has been a place where actors, directors, designers, and patrons come together to celebrate the magic of live performance. We started off as the Bellaire Theatre Guild in 1957, led by Marie and Les Pearsall, and we've grown into a beloved local institution—offering six-play seasons, festivals of original works, and monthly workshops that nurture artistic talent from all over Houston.

But after so many decades of calling our current location home, we're facing some pressing challenges. Among the many challenges, the parking is often inadequate, and the building's maintenance issues affect your experience—everything from comfort to climate control. These obstacles distract from the real reason we're here: to enjoy a great show.

That's why we're excited to announce we're moving to a new space at 3939 Hillcroft. It's modern, has better parking, and will allow us to provide the level and quality of live performance which you have come to expect. It will, in addition, allow us to expand our workshops, host daytime events, and offer rental space to other theatre groups. Of course, this move comes with extra expenses, so we've set a $75,000 fundraising goal to cover the first year's rent offset, build-out costs, moving fees, and all the legal and administrative aspects of relocating. Through other platforms, we have already raised $20,000, and so we have set our go funding goal at $55,000 to get us the rest of the way there.
