Hi all, this may sound kind of silly, but Malloreigh will have to legally adopt our baby once he/she is born.

In the U.S., the non-biological/non-carrying mother in a same-sex marriage has NO parental rights to the baby, even though they may be able to sign the birth certificate (wild, we know! ).

We must go through the legal process of “step-parent adoption” so that Malloreigh can legally be the mother of our child. At this point, everything is set up and ready to go, but the legal fees are going to amount to $5000-6000.

We HATE asking for financial assistance from those around us, but this is a cost that we didn’t think was going to play a part until later on in life. Our legal team has encouraged that we complete the heavy steps of the legal process of the adoption leading up to the birth of Baby Yingling so that once they’re here, the hard work is done. With the short timeline given, it doesn’t look like those funds will be available.

We really do appreciate any help; the smallest amount goes a long way. We want to give this baby the best life possible, and its two mommies can’t wait for them to arrive ❤️
