English Reading Club For Buddhist Monastics

The Kopan Monastery School*, Kathmandu, is seeking sponsorship to establish an English Reading Book Club for the monastic students.
The school director and English teachers feel it would be beneficial to improve reading literacy, and by giving students the encouragement to read interesting titles suitable to their age and level of English.
The money raised will be used to buy five sets of books for five classes of students, of Upper Primary to Secondary level (age 9-19). Each book costs around £3.50. The books will be loaned to students for a term for them to read in their free-time as well as some dedicated classroom time.

At present the selection of books available is very limited, and we would like to purchase the most suitable books that students can read in their free-time etc. Then discuss the stories with their peers, and write a book review to develop reading comprehension skills, as well as writing.
The best reviews will receive a prize, and will be displayed in the school to reward and encourage participation.
It is the hope that we can also publish some of the best reviews on the school blog online for sponsors and public to read.
