Endowment for Yu Hua's Funeral

The Chinese Community in Lubbock, Texas, heartbrokenly shares the sad news of the sudden passing of Ms. Yu Hua, a young lady of Texas Tech University.
Yu, a Ph.D. candidate of Statistics, died in a fatal car accident on June 9, 2017. She was on her way to Midland to visit her boyfriend for a nice weekend, but the plan was brutally crashed when her car hit another vehicle head-on. Her 25-year young life was taken away so unexpectedly, leaving her loved ones devastated.
Yu was raised by her grandma in a village in Anhui, China. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Forestry Economy Management at Lanzhou University in China, she came to Texas Tech University in 2012 to pursue the terminal degree of her education. She was so close to fulfilling her dream and would be graduating in May, 2018 if the accident had not happen.
Yu is a diligent student, thoughtful friend, and loved daughter/granddaughter of her family. The entire Red Raider family at Texas Tech University and the Chinese community at Lubbock are shocked by the tragedy and trying our best to help the family surviving the unimaginable loss. Yu’s family has been applying for the emergency visa to come to Lubbock for her funeral and to bring her home. However, the cost associated with the travelling and the funeral services exceeds the financial resource of the family and is becoming a serious burden on them.
We, the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars at Lubbock, are appealing to your kindness and generosity. Please help us to raise sufficient funding to pay for the family’s trip and the funeral services. Although the money we can offer to the family won’t be able to reduce their suffering for any bit, it is the only way to show our sympathy and condolence to the family and our love to our dear friend Yu.
