Help a 9/11 Veteran receive surgery

As a War Veteran, I am uncomfortable with asking for charity, but my situation is becoming desperate, so here I am.

I have deep infiltrating endometriosis throughout my abdomen.  The disease affects all of my organs.  The excruciating pain affects my ability to hold a job, and I have been on Social Security Disability since 2010.  At times, I am unable to take care of myself in the most basic of ways, not to mention my two-year-old son.  Numerous surgeries and years of seeing specialists to manage my condition/figure out the cause came at great financial cost to my family.

It is difficult to convey all the ways endometriosis has had an effect on my life.  Most people, if they have ever heard of it, just think that it causes painful periods.  Mind you, the pelvic pain is horrific, even worse than childbirth, but that is really only a piece of it.  Endometriosis can cause issues with colon health, bladder health, sexual health, emotional health, career success, family involvement, and fertility.  I have experienced this disease's effect in all these areas.

Imagine telling your boss that you can no longer manage to work.  Imagine having to constantly say "no" or cancel plans with family and friends to lay in bed.  Imagine having to tell your spouse you can no longer have sex because it is too painful.  Imagine telling your upset two-year old that you can't hold and console him because it hurts too much.

Fortunately, I have a glimmer of hope.  I have a confirmed diagnosis and am scheduled to have surgery on November 28th at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, GA.  Unfortunately, medical insurance doesn't cover the cost for deep excision specialists, and I've been fighting the VA Hospital for months to no avail.

The surgery itself is only where the financial burden begins.  My husband and I have to travel to Atlanta and stay in a hotel for over a week.  We will need to pay for respite care at home, both leading up to the surgery and while I recover.

I don't want to have to ask for help, but I need it.    My surgery is scheduled for November 28th.  My body is deteriorating from the inside out, and every day I have to wait in excruciating pain is another day I have been robbed of living, another day my son has been robbed of a mother, and another day my husband has been robbed of a wife.  Every little bit makes a difference.  Please help me get my life back.
