<div>En 2022 me diagnosticaron con endometriosis y tuve mi primera cirugía (un éxito temporal). Por desgracia regresó con más fuerza y desde noviembre pasado estoy experimentando los síntomas.

<div><strong>Nuevo diagnóstico</strong>.
</div>
<div>Mi nuevo equipo de especialistas incluye una ginecóloga neuropelviologa, coloproctologo, urólogo, fisioterapeutas y nutrióloga. Sé que para muchas personas la endometriosis suena a un mal menor, un dolor cíclico o solo una molestia esporádica, pero eso es lejano a la realidad. Mi diagnóstico es endometriosis infiltrativa profunda y como lo dice su nombre, está entrando a otros órganos, por el momento ya compromete partes de mi intestino, el cual tendrá que ser recortado muy linda y estéticamente.

<div>También tengo miomas y adenomiosis, que se pueden resumir en una útera enferma que tendrá que ser retirada con una histerectomía completa.

<div><strong>Síntomas</strong> ‍
</div>
<div>Esto afecta mi vida de múltiples formas. No puedo hacer muchas actividades sin tener una fatiga intensa que me obliga a recostarme a toda hora, indigestion, no paro de bajar de peso por la dieta, respuesta inflamatoria a muchos alimentos, dolor agudo y persistente cuando hay crisis de dolor pero también un dolor sordo irradiado hacia el hígado, pulmón o riñones, piernas dormidas, dolor de articulaciones, mareos al cambiar de posición y un amplio etc. Ustedes no me ven quejarme porque cuando peor estoy no salgo a la calle, y el dolor medio se ha vuelto parte de mi rutina y vivo con él sin mucho rollo, aunque no debería ser así. Pero la enfermedad no para si no se saca, así que se puede poner peor.

<div><strong>*Pasa la gorra y pide de su cooperación*</strong>

<div>Desgraciadamente el seguro sigue tratando de no pagar por la cirugía y ya va un mes y medio que me trae dando vueltas. Muy probablemente deba irme a pleito con ellos pero seguramente no será rápido y no quiero retrasar más la cirugía, no sabemos qué tan rápido avanza y hay riesgo de que comprometa otros órganos como riñones, vejiga, apéndice o que dañe nervios y comprometa mi movilidad. Así que decidí que el 22 de abril entro a quirófano con o sin seguro.

<div>Es una cirugía de alta especialidad y mínima invasión con un porcentaje de reincidencia del 1% y por ello el costo asciende a unos <strong>400 mil pesos más o menos.</strong> Honestamente esto más el gasto que ya hice (para diagnosticar) y el que se viene (para que no regrese) me mandaría a la bancarrota directamente, pero sé que a mí alrededor hay abundancia y que eso no va a suceder. Empiezo tan cerca a la fecha porque esto es la última opción que quería tomar, también por eso la meta es de la mitad, porque como en el teletón, por cada peso que ustedes pongan yo pongo otro :P.

<div><strong>El final</strong>

<div>En otro momento de mi vida no me habría atrevido a abrir esta cosa, pero wow, la medicina es muy cara Jajaja y la Endo me llevó hace años a sentir por primera vez que quiero alargar la vida (luego les invito un café para que hablemos de lo poderosa y convincente que es una enfermedad crónica). Recuerden donar como se pagan impuestos: proporcional a lo que se factura, ya sea a mi persona (gracias) o a otras causas. El dinero es el medio para resolver problemas mundanos y qué mejor que gastarlo en que yours truly se saque tumores de 10 centímetros, pueda volver a comer sin miedo y deje atrás este cansancio y dolor eterno de un cuerpo luchando contra sí mismo.

<div>In 2022 I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had my first surgery (a temporary success). Unfortunately it came back a bit more intense and since last November I have been experiencing harsh symptoms.

<div><strong>New diagnosis</strong>
</div>
<div>My new team of specialists includes a gynecologist-neuropelviologist, coloproctologist, urologist, physiotherapists, and a nutritionist. I know that for many people endometriosis sounds like a minor ailment, cyclical pain or just a sporadic discomfort, but that is far from reality. My diagnosis is deep infiltrative endometriosis and, as the name suggests, it is infiltrating other organs, at the moment it has already compromised parts of my bowel, which will have to be carefully and aesthetically trimmed. I also have fibroids and adenomyosis, which can be summed up as a sick uterus that will have to be removed with a complete hysterectomy.

<div><strong>Symptoms ‍</strong>
</div>
<div>Endo affects my life in multiple ways. There are lots of activities that trigger an intense fatigue that forces me to lie down at all hours; indigestion; inflammatory response to many foods; acute and persistent cramps but also a dull ache radiating towards the liver, lung or kidneys; numb legs; joint pain; dizziness whenever I switch my position, and a broad etc. You don't see me complaining because when I’m at my worst I stay home, and the pain has become part of my routine and I live with it without much fuss. But the disease doesn't stop unless you remove the source tissue or cysts, which means I can get worse.

<div><strong>*Passes the hat around*</strong>

<div>Unfortunately the insurance keeps trying not to cover the surgery and it's been a month and a half that I've been going around in circles. I will probably have to present an official complaint at some point or it might become a reimbursement, but surely it won't be fast and I don't want to delay the surgery any longer. We don't know how fast my endo progresses (this time it just took 4-5 months to get this bad) and there is a risk that it may compromise other organs such as kidneys, bladder, appendix or even damage nerves and compromise my mobility. So I decided that on April 22nd I will enter the operating room with or without insurance.

<div>It is a high specialty and minimally invasive surgery with a 1% recurrence rate and therefore the cost amounts to about <strong>20k USD more or less. </strong>Honestly, this plus the expenses I have already covered to get my diagnosis and everything that will come up post surgery would send me directly to bankruptcy, but I know that around me there are many people willing to help. I am sharing this so close to my surgery because this is the last option I wanted to take, that's also why the goal is half the total, because for every dollar given I’ll add another XD.

<div><strong>The end</strong>

<div>In another moment of my life I wouldn’t have dared to open this thing, but wow, medicine is crazy expensive and this endo journey has helped me feel for the first time that I want to extend my life (later we can have some coffee and talk about how powerful and life-changing a chronic disease can be). Remember to donate just as taxes are paid: proportional to what is earned, whether it’s for me (thank you) or another cause. Money is the means to solve worldly problems and what better way to spend it than on yours truly getting 10 centimeter tumors removed, allowing me to eat again without fear, and helping me leave behind this eternal tiredness and random pain that comes with a body fighting against itself.
