End of life cuddle bed
Donation protected
Pa "Peter Robbins OAM" lost his battle to cancer and left us at the age of 83 and having just celebrated 60years of marriage to Nan "Judith Robbins OAM".
In the last few days of Pa's life in the palliative care ward of the Bairnsdale Hospital, all my Nan wanted to do was get in bed with Pa and cuddle him.
Unfortunately there isn't any double "Cuddle Beds" in the palliative care ward, so the only form of comfort was holding Pas hand during his last days while sitting uncomfortably in a chair next to the bed.
After Pas passing Nan vowed to donate at least 1 or 2 cuddle beds if possible to the Bairnsdale Hospital.
However these beds are very expensive (about $10000) and for this to happen she needs a hand from friends family and the local community to help in the purchase, as this donation will assist so many people both young and old!
Pa and nan were awarded the Order of Australia for the running of Annie’s Cottage for 30 years, a respite house which has given hundreds of families with a child with a life-threatening illness a holiday. This is one way of giving back to Nan and Pa who have given so much time helping families going through a similar time of making the end of life more comfortable and enjoyable for the families involved.
If you can spare anything Nan would be so grateful and hopefully we can fulfil her wishes and leave a lasting legacy to remember Pa.
