Save Ingrisd from Detention!

Donation protected
Ingrisd Nohemi Sosa has been in detention for nearly a year fighting her asylum case. She has fled violence and death threats from her native Honduras only to be received by the unjust US immigration detention complex. We were lucky enough to place her with Centro Legal de La Raza, who are doing amazing work with detained asylum seekers, and they were able to secure her a bond of $3000. We have already raised $1000, but need YOUR HELP to get the rest.

Ingrisd had to leave her six children behind in Honduras with her brother who has been struggling to raise and pay for the care of these children. Ingrisd hopes to be released from detention so she can work towards family reunification. She is a kind and amazing soul who has acted as caretaker for several young adults who have passed through West County Detention Facility before their deporations, transfers or releases. Her humility in the face of insurmountable adversity is inspiring. She deserves a chance to heal and reunite with her children.

Through my work with CIVIC (Community Initiatives for Visiting Immigrants in Confinement) and our local program, Detention Dialogues, at the WCDF, I have been visiting Ingrisd every week since she arrived. She has suffered from some severe medical issues recently, mainly related to the trauma and stress of both her experiences in Honduras and her detention at WCDF. She received minimal health care from the facility after weeks of severe pain, but no medication, so I have been buying her mediciation for her for several months.

We need your help to raise the rest of the bond money so she can be released. Centro Legal was amazing and found her residential placement so she can continue to fight for her case and for her family from the outside. From the jail, she has virtually no other form of communication other than our weekly visits. The situation is desperate, please look into your heart and help a woman who is both in need and deserving. Any amount, however small, does make a difference. When a community pulls together it is amazing what can be accomplished.
