Ems brave the shave ♡

Hello... My name is Emily Rae & i am 26 years old, In November 2018 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer after having my 1st smear test..I had no symptoms or indications that I was poorlie.. I was transferred to Milton Keynes hospital for further test, I was diagnosed on November 19th with cervical cancer.. I had lots of mri scans & blood tests, cancer had covered most of my cervix & had spread to the neck of my womb, I was told a full hysterectomy was the next step & it was going to be soon.. from November to January i went from 10'3 down to 7 stone, I was unable to keep food down & was in alot of pain.. Christmas came & went & it was all a blur.. I went to Northamptonshire hospital for a camera to be inserted so they could see my tumour & measure it, it was 2.5cm.. i went back 8 days later & it had grown to 5.5cm.. my surgeon told me after it reaches 6cm they can not operate.. it was now really scary.. i was in the room why she made phone calls to try to get me a space on an operating table.. she was negotiating with other sergions & at this point it wasnt just scary i was loosing my mind.. finally i got a date..I was due to have my surgery on January 7th 10 days later.. but due to unforseen circumstances in the theatre that day i was held back & rebooked for the 10th.. the day was here.. I was saying good bye to the babies i thought i would have.. the family I thought I would make.. I was going to have a big scar.. That's all I could think of, cancer was no longer crossing my mind.. it all went ahead.. I had an emergency radical hysterectomy on January 10th.. on the11th 24 hours later i was up & walking with aid.. surgery went as well as expected.. I was aloud home to my hero's farm where I was looked after amazingly well.. I was getting better!! sadly this didn't last, I became very unwell & an ambulance was called out, the paramedics knew what was wrong but did there job as best they could, I was given Iv's in the guest bedroom where i was staying & taken straight to hospital with a temp of 39 that would not budge, i was screaming in pain begging them to let me die.. it was like something out of a horror movie.. i was diagnosed with sepsis & kept in for two weeks reciving treatment.. finally i was aloud to go back home to the farm, i was elated.. weeks past & i was doing well, a visit to the hospital & i was told radiotherapy was my next step.. I was shocked!! i thought the hysterectomy would have been enough, I remember looking at my hero with tears in my eyes so scared but he kept me together, his mum was waiting for us & i didn't want to tell her.. I knew this would hurt my loved ones as we all thought it was over, we thought we where coming out the other side, .. so radiotherapy was booked in, I was due to start on March 25th.. & that i did.. after my 1st session after being absolutely petrified i was relived.. it wasn't so bad & was reassured no side effects would get me for a few weeks.. I was told that radiotherapy would put me into the menopause due to my surgeon opting in to keep my ovaries to prevent me going into early menopause.. as like I said radiotherapy was not supposed to be happening.. it was supposed to just be a hysterectomy.. I got home after my 1st session and of course I was very tired, this was to be expected.. what happened next was not,.. I had an awful abdominal pain that was almost like a contraction as quick as it came was as quick as it left, the pain so severe that it made me vomit, I was taken into hospital where I stayed for 5 days undergoing MRI scans, ultrasounds, blood tests and numerous other tests trying to diagnose the problem, one doctor thought I was suffering from appendicitis, another doctor thought I had kidney stones, somebody else said that maybe it was a water infection, I was even told that this pain could be trapped wind.. imagine that.. trapped wind!!! After some antibiotics that picked up an infection I was allowed back home, I contacted oncology and told them I was ready to start back at radiotherapy, my oncologist took me in for some MRI scans and noticed that all of my internal organs were severely inflamed and that having radiotherapy was not an option at this point.. I waited 3 weeks and attended another MRI which gave the results that the inflammation had gone down.. I was ready to start radiotherapy again this time I was sure I was going to kick it backside. After all i had 5 days a week for 5 weeks to get though.. unfortunately that was not the case.. two sessions in and that pain was back you know the one they tried to tell me that was trapped wind haha.. I spent a further 7 days in hospital being treated for abdominal infections, this was absolute torture for me as they put me on a ward that was for early pregnancies.. Oncology had decided that again radiotherapy was not able to take place at this time as it was very detrimental to my health & was making me to ill.. in the space of two month i was admitted to hospital a further 4 times with the same symptoms as before.. a board meeting was called and they came to the conclusion that radiotherapy was not now an option for me.. my body wasn't coping with it and the menopause was in full swing, I was told radiotherapy would stop indefinitely and that it was no longer an option.. I am still here to this very day.. i continue to have mri scans & blood test.. I am happy i am blessed & I am going to brave the shave!! I have decided to do this live on social media a date is yet to be confirmed & i will make everyone aware before hand.. i am doing this not only because I feel it is important that people see the impact that this will have on my life, & not only for me but to bring awareness to others too.. I am doing this to support the many people I have met in waiting rooms over the last 6 months.. many of them changed my life.. I am doing this because I want to raise money and awareness for cancer patients & there family's.. I am Emily & i am 26.. Thank you for reading my story ♡ I have started a campaign to have the age of smear test changed from 25-16 Please sign & share http://chng.it/nb2F4VQR
