On August 23rd, around 5:15 PM, my life changed in an instant. What started as a normal day closing my business turned into a nightmare I could never have imagined.

I started this business five years ago with no funding, just a vision, determination, and hard work. Over the years, I poured my heart, soul, and resources into building a safe, welcoming space for my community—a place that has touched so many lives. In less than 30 days, we were set to celebrate our 5-year anniversary.

That day, as I was closing up, I smelled smoke. At first, I didn’t realize how serious it was until the smoke turned from grey to black. I rushed to wake my daughter, who was resting in the office, and got her outside safely. I ran back in to warn my colleagues and clients—some were still in chairs, others under the dryer. We evacuated as the fire spread above our business.

The fire happened directly over our space, leaving everything inside soaked, smoked out, and severely damaged. All of my equipment, tools, and investments—about $70,000 worth over five years—are now trapped inside, with the doors locked to us. My dream, my hard work, and my livelihood are now in limbo.

I am heartbroken but determined to rebuild. This business is more than just a source of income—it’s a legacy, a safe space, and a symbol of resilience for me and my community.
