Empowering Women of War

They didn't know me.
They shared their shelter with me, they gave me their warmest blanket to sleep.
They shared their bread with me, they shared their tea with me and they shared their tears with me.
They shared their stories with me, stories about great losses, about losing their homes, their loved ones, their books, their jobs, their toys, their music players, their song.
We shared laughter and we talked about our dreams. Dreams of becoming bus drivers, hairstylists, artist, teachers, engineers, doctors, shop owners, politicians, cooks...and when we said goodbye they gave me hugs and smiles and Amal gave me an apple.
"They" are families who fled the War in Syria and Palestine.
"Empowering Women of War" is a project to create an environment where women can knit, sew, cook, and bake on a larger scale and sell their products in order to earn money and make a living and provide for their children.
Lets help them to thrive and to look forward to their future. Lets help them regain their strength and their creativity so that they can become nurses and teachers and whatever else - empowered women who can look after their own and flourish and help their communities flourish as well.
