Empowering a Helpless Father

This family is from Pakistan. They live in the same village as a friend of mine who informed me of their plight. The family consists of a Husband and Wife and 3 young children.
They are extremely poor and have absolutely zero income relying completely on handouts and donations. They are so poor that they do not even have a toilet in their extremely humble dwellings. I have a video i can share that shows the state they are living in but this site would not allow me to upload.
The father has had an operation to the abdomen preventing him from lifting heavy loads, however this has not prevented him from trying to find any kind of work to try and support his family. Unfortunately no one is offering him any work due to his illness and because they have no relatives to help them, the family has been forced to seek charity. The situation has become so desperate for them that the father recently contemplated suicide due to the stress of not being able to provide two simple meals for his children a day.
The best way to help someone is to empower them to help themselves, hence this request is to raise enough money for this poor family to help them buy a cow. The milk from the cow can then be sold daily by the parents to purchase the things they need to sustain their family.
Our Messenger Muhammad said:
The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to the people. The most beloved deed to Allah is to make a Muslim happy, or to remove one of his troubles, or to forgive his debt, or to feed his hunger. That I walk with a brother regarding a need is more beloved to me than that I seclude myself in this mosque in Medina for a month. Whoever swallows his anger, then Allah will conceal his faults. Whoever suppresses his rage, even though he could fulfill his anger if he wished, then Allah will secure his heart on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever walks with his brother regarding a need until he secures it for him, then Allah the Exalted will make his footing firm across the bridge on the day when the footings are shaken.
