My name is Astri Lopez and I am a Public Health student at the University of Nevada, Reno. I am also the Vice President of the MEDLIFE (Medicine Education and Development for Low-Income Families Everywhere) chapter at my university. I am very passionate about providing change for future generations and seeing the difference I can make. Through volunteering and working with different communities I made it my mission to support and empower children, mothers, and families for them to thrive and succeed. Last year I traveled to Peru to help with mobile clinics and enjoyed immersing myself in a new community with such a beautiful culture and realized how impactful and meaningful acts of service are to me. I was inspired to support families in communities locally and globally. Every child and their family deserves to have access to resources that help their mental and physical health.
