<div>Camille’s life has been shaped by significant health challenges from birth, resulting in long-term impacts on her mobility, sensation, and overall health. She thrived as a Paralympic swimmer, representing Canada on the world stage for over a decade. Her accomplishments include competing in three Paralympic Games, earning medals at World Championships, and breaking Canadian records—all while advocating for equity, inclusion, and safe sport as a leader in the adaptive athletics community.

<div>In 2022, Camille retired from competitive sport on her own terms, proud of her career but also facing the emotional and physical complexities of life beyond the pool. The transition brought unexpected challenges—resurfaced trauma, mental health struggles, and the loss of a sport that had given her purpose and structure for so long. But amid these difficulties, Camille found something new: adaptive mountain biking. This sport has given her a renewed sense of freedom, strength, and connection, reigniting her passion for movement and community.

<div>However, adaptive mountain biking comes with a significant barrier: the cost of an adaptive bike. These highly specialized pieces of equipment can cost upwards of tens of thousands of dollars making ownership an unattainable goal for Camille right now. She has been relying on borrowing bikes at events, which limits her ability to fully embrace this transformative sport.

<div>Asking for help has never been easy for Camille, but the barriers she faces in accessing adaptive sports have made it clear that sometimes, support is necessary to move forward. Your support will help Camille purchase her own <a href="https://www.bowheadcorp.com/bowhead-rx-bike" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">RX Bowhead</a> adaptive mountain bike at a cost of $26,797 allowing her to ride trails freely, reconnect with nature, and continue to build a life rooted in joy, resilience, and community. This bike is more than a piece of equipment—it’s a gateway to a brighter, healthier, and more fulfilling future.

<div>La vie de Camille a été marquée par d'importants problèmes de santé dès la naissance, ce qui a eu des répercussions à long terme sur sa mobilité, ses sensations et sa santé en général. Elle s'est épanouie en tant que nageuse paralympique, représentant le Canada sur la scène mondiale pendant plus d'une décennie. Elle a notamment participé à trois Jeux paralympiques, remporté des médailles aux Championnats du monde et battu des records canadiens, tout en défendant l'équité, l'inclusion et la sécurité dans le sport en tant que chef de file de la communauté du sport adapté.

<div>En 2022, Camille s'est retirée du sport de compétition de son propre gré, fière de sa carrière mais aussi confrontée aux complexités émotionnelles et physiques de la vie au-delà de la piscine. La transition a entraîné des défis inattendus - des traumatismes qui ont refait surface, des problèmes de santé mentale et la perte d'un sport qui lui avait donné un but et une structure pendant si longtemps. Mais au milieu de ces difficultés, Camille a trouvé quelque chose de nouveau : le vélo de montagne adapté. Ce sport lui a redonné un sentiment de liberté, de force et de connexion, ravivant sa passion pour le mouvement et la communauté.

<div>Cependant, le vélo de montagne adapté s'accompagne d'un obstacle de taille : le coût d'un vélo adapté. Ces pièces d'équipement hautement spécialisées peuvent coûter plusieurs dizaines de milliers de dollars, ce qui fait de la possession d'un vélo adapté un objectif inaccessible pour Camille à l'heure actuelle. Elle a dû emprunter des vélos lors d'événements, ce qui limite sa capacité à pratiquer pleinement ce sport transformateur.
