Empower Immigrant Voices Through Film Creation
Donation protected
My name is Zaha Alieva, and I am currently pursuing my master’s in Cinema Studies at Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. I am excited to share that I’m raising funds for my thesis project, a short film titled Kore.
Kore is a modern reinterpretation of the Persephone myth, exploring themes of identity, independence, and the complex relationship between mother and daughter. The story follows Kore, a young immigrant woman from Chile living in New York, as she grapples with the tension between her loyalty to her mother and her desire for freedom and self-discovery.
My team and I have shot some scenes to give you an idea how the film will look and feel.
This project is very personal to me, capturing my immigrant experience and the challenge of balancing cultural and generational differences with my parents. I am eager to bring this story to life with the support of my talented cast and crew, but as with any film, production requires resources.
Your contribution would go toward essential aspects of the film, including set design, costumes, lighting, and post-production. Every donation, no matter the size, will help us create a visually stunning and emotionally resonant film.
Thank you so much for your support and belief in Kore! Your generosity will help bring this story to the screen.
Best,
Zaha
