Students from under-resourced communities often can’t participate in unpaid learning opportunities. This honorarium fund aims to incentivize Lindblom HS planning students to participate in the Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP) program run by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.
Lindblom Math and Science Academy is a selective enrollment high school located in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood. For the past seven years Human Geography teachers at the school have been hosting an Urban Planning Fair, where students are asked to address challenges in their neighborhoods. With a minority enrollment rate of 96.6%, it makes Lindblom planning students key to creating a pipeline of planners uniquely capable of addressing challenges in communities that look like them and represent the diverse demographic of our region.
Two Lindblom planning students will be offered this honorarium opportunity at $500 each. Recipients will attend the week-long FLIP program, shadow professionals for a half day, and participate in a capstone presentation summarizing their experience.
