Hello, I am Chris Foshe. In early 2023, I had a tumor growth inside my L3 vertebrae. At that time, two biopsies came back inconclusive. My neurosurgeon stated it really didn’t matter; the tumor had to be removed. The first back surgery was in 7/2023. Seven weeks after surgery, that biopsy came back as Chondrosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. At that time, it was decided I needed 30 radiation treatments.
In 11/2024, I had another screening because I was having issues again. That MRI showed a tumor had returned inside my L3 vertebrae. My new neurosurgeon and oncologist stated it was Chondrosarcoma and needed to be removed, but correctly this time. I was put on medical leave at work in Christmas 2025 and had surgery on 3/25. This time, they removed my L3 vertebrae and had to cut a nerve root to get the tumor out in one piece. I lost some movement in my right leg and left the hospital in a wheelchair. I went through physical therapy and regained the ability to walk, with some difficulty.
Now, in 8/2025, I started having changes in my right leg again, so I went back to the neurosurgeon and oncologist. The MRI showed my Chondrosarcoma has returned. It's stage 3 (highest stage) and very aggressive. I possibly have two spots in one of my lungs. At this stage, it is incurable, and I have lost the ability to walk and work. I am on medication that could greatly slow down the progression, but that is the best outcome we can hope for right now.
Long history, but here is my request: I have a manual wheelchair. I am looking at the Freedom Trax system to give me the ability to get out and do things in the yard, woods, and sea. I currently have to get help to leave the house; my only way to get in and out of my house is the walkout basement through the yard. This puts a lot of strain on my wife, but we make it work when necessary.
The Trax system would provide me with the ability to go through the yard and woods, even with uneven surfaces. This would greatly benefit me physically but mentally as well. This would provide me with the ability to help, not just be helped. I have not been employed since 12/2024. I was able to get a different job for about 5 weeks before this last round developed, and my neurosurgeon states I will not be able to work again, I won’t be able to walk again. So please, if you feel led to donate, please do. If not, please share with your friends and family in case they are led to give.
